The temperatures are cooling down, and the leaves are changing color. You know what that means? That means it’s fair season!

One of those fairs opened tonight.

The Western Carolina State Fair opened October 10 and will run until October 19. The gates open at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is also a clear bag policy in place.

Several attendees told me some of their reasons for coming to the fair from the rides to spending time with friends to games. I even got to go on several rides, eat a funnel cake, and play several games before the fair opened.

While families are already enjoying themselves at the fair, some still remember what it was like last year after Hurricane Helene hit the CSRA.
