LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There was high security in Indianapolis, Friday as Vice President JD Vance met with Indiana Governor Mike Braun and Republican state lawmakers over redistricting.

They were met with opposition at the state capitol as people showed up to protest the move.

The Vice President spoke with a largely Republican state about a White House push for redistricting . This is expected to favor the GOP in the 2026 election.

Texas and Missouri have followed suit on that push.

Normally, states change their congressional boundaries every 10 years with the census. Indiana finalized their current map in 2021.

In southern Indiana, Democratic State Representative Wendy Dant Chesser is closely watching the reports on redistricting conversations, as she said it was a closed-door meeting.
