MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Montgomery Police have charged a suspect in connection to the mass shooting on Oct. 4, that claimed the lives of Shalanda Williams, 43, and Jeremiah Morris, 17.
The shooting also left 12 others injured.
Following an investigation, a juvenile male has been charged with one count of capital murder, nine counts of assault in the first degree, and three counts of assault in the second degree. The suspect was taken into custody on October 10.
Officers responded to gunfire near Bibb Street and Commerce Street about 11:31 p.m. on the night of the incident. Jeremiah Morris was found with fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several others were injured and taken to local hospitals. Shalanda Williams later died from her injuries.
