The capital city witnessed intense student protests on Friday following the Tripura Board of Secondary Education’s (TBSE) recent decision to sharply increase the examination fees for Madhyamik (Secondary) and Higher Secondary examinations.

The agitation was spearheaded by the left-backed student organizations, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and the Tripura Students’ Union (TSU), who gathered in large numbers outside the state Education Department office, demanding immediate withdrawal of the revised fee structure.
