The Blue Jays will play the Seattle Mariners in the American League championship series.

The Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 in Game 5 of the American League division series on Friday night to punch their ticket to Game 1 of the next round in Toronto, beginning at 8:08 p.m. on Sunday.

The Jays went 4-2 against the Mariners in the regular season. Seattle, which swept the Jays in the 2022 wild-card round, is looking to make its first World Series appearance.

The Mariners are led by MVP candidate Cal Raleigh , a switch-hitting catcher who hit 60 home runs and has torched the Jays in the past with 11 home runs in 26 games.
