SAN FRANCISCO —

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels cannot fly at San Francisco Fleet Week due to the government shutdown. Canada's Air Force Snowbirds now take over as the headliner for the weekend's airshow.

“I feel disappointed that we won’t be able to fly with our brothers and sisters in the US military," said Maj. Brent Handy, a Snowbirds pilot. "That is a big part of our mission to demonstrate our cooperation between Canada and the U.S.”

Handy says the Snowbirds were always going to fly during Fleet Week, but perform alongside the Blue Angels. However, with the famous Navy air team grounded, the picturesque San Francisco airspace now solely belongs to the Snowbirds.
