Although he couldn’t see him coming from his blindside, Marvin Burroughs knew that Bruce Maglardy — one of Eastern’s best defensive players — was closing in on him in a hurry as he dropped back to pass in the third quarter on Friday night.
The Atlantic City sophomore quarterback had two options: Take off to his right and see what he could get with his legs, or wait for senior wide receiver Tamir Rex to break open in the end zone and unleash the throw, despite the fact that Maglardy was ready to deliver a vicious hit.
He chose option B, and his team never trailed again.
