A slow start didn’t keep Superior Central volleyball from picking up a victory over Rapid River in four sets 20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 here Thursday.
The Rockets jumped out to an early 3-1 lead on a kill by junior Donna McDonald. McDonald had three kills in the set with the third one putting the Rockets up 19-12.
“We have a hard time keeping our momentum up for long periods of time,” Rockets coach Katrina McNamara said. “We practice hard and we come in with a lot of energy then all of a sudden we crash so we have to work more on keeping that energy at a high level.”
The Rockets jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second set on a three-point serving run by junior Kinsley Damon. The Cougars answered, scoring 10 of the next 14 points to take a 10-8 lead on a kill by sophomore Kylie Stu
