Jeff Tweedy and sons Spencer and Sammy had a 36-hour road trip in front of them. It was early in the pandemic and the three family members and musicians were headed from their homebase in Chicago to New York and back again, only stopping to empty out Sammy’s NYC dorm room. They had a huge chunk of time to fill.

“We basically drove there, packed up the van and turned around,” Spencer told the Herald from the Loft, the Tweedy family and Wilco studio and rehearsal space in Chicago. “Then in the middle of the night, we realized that we had never listened to ‘Sandinista’ together, so we listened to it about 5 a.m. as the sun came up in the Midwest.”
