Detroit Metropolitan Airport has 29 certified therapy dogs certified with 27 different handlers that come to the airport at least twice a month.

Dogs of all sizes and ages can be therapy dogs, though they must go through training and rigerous testing before becoming certified.

Simba, a golden retriever, is not a morning dog. He sleeps on his commute, but wakes up excited to go to work.

Simba walks from the parking deck to the entrance of Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and his owner guides him through security, passing out his trading cards to agents and travelers alike.

In need of a morning boost, he enjoys a Pup Cup, then makes his way to cheer up passengers as they await their planes.

Twice a month, this is a typical morning for Simba and his handler, Kim Watson, one of 29 volunteer
