Streaming fans got a shock recently with the news that one of the giants in the industry is shutting down.
Disney has placed Hulu on the chopping block after two decades, as its being phased out as a standalone platform.
The entertainment powerhouse announced on Oct. 2 that by next year, Hulu’s content will be fully integrated into Disney+ . The huge change marks the end of an era for the service that launched in 2007.
The shift began on Oct. 8, where Hulu is set to replace the Star brand internationally, becoming Disney’s global hub for adult-oriented programming.
The company says the goal is to simplify its streaming options for subscribers and build one stronger platform.
Disney gained full control of Hulu earlier this year after completing its acquisition from Comcast.
