BRISTOL, Va. – A proposed new Bristol Virginia baseball stadium is now expected to be built on a vacant Bob Morrison Boulevard site adjacent to a Food City store.

On Tuesday the Bristol Virginia City Council is expected to vote on an agreement to purchase the 8.73-acre parcel for $1.1 million to construct a new baseball/multi-purpose facility for Virginia High School, the Bristol State Liners and other public events.

City leaders announced in August they’d reached an agreement with Boyd Sports of Knoxville to bring the Appalachian League State Liners back to Virginia. The team had been negotiating with Bristol Tennessee on two proposed locations but were unable to finalize either.
