High levels of drug dealing, unsafe streets, anti-social behaviour and asylum seeker hotels are concerns many residents in Greater Leys share.
The estate, in Oxford, along with the neighbouring Blackbird Leys estate, is one of hundreds of locations across Britain which will receive £20m in Government “Pride in Place” funding over the next decade as the areas has high deprivation levels and poor social infrastructure.
The Leys, as the area is known locally, are situated in the county of Oxfordshire, where people have one of the highest council tax bills in England and the highest average Band D council tax rate amongst authorities covering a whole county, with a levy of £1,911.40 per year for 2025/26.
