NEW ORLEANS — Voters in the New Orleans area are heading to the polls on Saturday to cast ballots in a number of high-stakes elections that could shape local government for years to come. More than 40,000 voters cast their ballots early, signaling a potential record turnout.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. Saturday and will close at 8 p.m. Voters must bring a valid photo ID with a signature—such as a Louisiana driver’s license, state ID, or passport. You can find your polling location by name or parish through To vote, you must have been registered by Sept. 10, be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a legal resident, and not under incarceration for a felony or declared mentally incompetent by a court.
