Lawyers for Luigi Mangione asked a federal judge to dismiss some criminal charges brought against him after the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The papers, filed in a New York federal court, also said officers failed to follow legal protocol when arresting the 27-year-old. The dismissal request includes the only count for which Mangione could face the death penalty. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges.
