A CRPF jawan from Assam was martyred in a Maoist-triggered IED blast in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district late Friday evening, as security forces continued operations in one of the most sensitive Naxal-affected regions of the state.

Head Constable, Mahendra Laskar (45), a resident of Kuwariwati village in Kampur, Nagaon district of Assam, succumbed to injuries sustained during an anti-Maoist operation in the dense Saranda forests under Manoharpur block. He was serving with the 60th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
