TEMPE, Ariz. — Three people were shot in Tempe Friday night, according to authorities.

The Tempe Police Department said the incident happened near Curry Road and Scottsdale Road at around 11:40 p.m.

Police said the shooting happened during an attempted robbery.

Two people were riding a scooter when a group of people came up to them and tried to rob them, police said.

The victims shot at the suspect, and one of the suspects shot back.

One of the victims and two of the suspects were shot.

They were all taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two suspects were later identified and arrested, Tempe police told 12News.

One suspect, 18-year-old Sergio Rodriguez Avila, was arrested and is facing charges for aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.
