COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt scored a brilliant century to lead England to 253-9 in 50 overs after being sent in to bat by Sri Lanka in their Women’s Cricket World Cup match on Saturday.

Sciver-Brunt’s 117 runs came in as many deliveries and was her 10th century in one-day internationals.

England, which lost the toss, made a promising start before Amy Jones (11) was run out with the total on 24.

Tammy Beaumont scored 32 off 29 before miscuing a catch to Harshitha Samarawickrama off left-arm spinner Sugandika Kumari.

Heather Knight and Sciver-Brunt shared a 60-run partnership for the third wicket off 73 deliveries before Knight was caught by Dewmi Vihanga off spin bowler Inoka Ranaweera.

Sciver-Brunt added 40 runs for the fourth wicket with Sophia Dunkley
