IndiGo to Launch Daily Flights from Delhi to Guangzhou
New Delhi: IndiGo has announced the commencement of daily direct flights between New Delhi and Guangzhou, China, starting November 10. This marks a significant step in restoring air connectivity between India and China after a hiatus of over five years due to the pandemic. The airline will operate these flights using its Airbus A320 aircraft.
The flight from Delhi is scheduled to leave at 9:45 PM, arriving in Guangzhou at 4:40 AM. The return flight will depart Guangzhou at 5:50 AM and reach Delhi at 10:10 AM. Tickets for this route are now available for booking on the IndiGo website.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo's Head of Global Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, "We are pleased to enhance our connectivity to China with daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, in addition to the recently resumed route from Kolkata. The resumption of operations between two of the world’s most populous nations presents immense potential for cultural exchange and economic collaboration."
IndiGo has also recently announced daily flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou, starting October 26. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that direct flights between India and China would resume this month, a move seen as a positive development in bilateral relations.
Since the suspension of direct flights in March 2020, travel between the two countries has required transit through third nations, primarily in Southeast Asia. Experts believe that the resumption of these flights will enhance business opportunities and support cultural and tourism exchanges, indicating a cautious thaw in relations between New Delhi and Beijing.
In addition to the Guangzhou route, IndiGo has plans to launch a daily direct service between Delhi and Hanoi, Vietnam, starting December 20, 2025, further expanding its international network.
