The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a warning that Universal Credit claimants could see their payments stopped if they don't make 17 changes to their personal situation.

Failing to report these changes could lead to a penalty or even being taken to court, as it could mean claimants are being paid more than they are eligible for.

Official guidance on GOV.UK warns: "You could be taken to court or have to pay a penalty if you give wrong information or do not report a change in your circumstances."

The DWP adds: "Changes in your circumstances can affect how much you're paid for your whole assessment period - not just from the date you report them."
