A 49-year-old man from Taunton died Friday morning after being crushed while working at a scrap recycling yard, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III’s office.

Westport Emergency Medical Services and police responded to Mid City Scrap at 548 State Road at about 11:10 a.m. following reports of a medical call.

Mark Peters, 49, of Taunton, was found with a crushing injury to his lower extremities, the statement reads. He was brought to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

The investigation remains ongoing but does not appear to be suspicious, Quinn’s office said.
