Many of Pennsylvania’s most prominent politicians gathered inside Pittsburgh International Airport’s new terminal for a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Saturday — a rare display of bipartisanship amid the ongoing federal government shutdown, and a budget impasse in Harrisburg.

In a fiery speech, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Butler, stressed that the new terminal was the result of the state’s Republicans and Democrats uniting for a common cause and a public service. The terminal received more than $100 million in federal funding.

“This project is an incredible example of when people work together — people that have the same vision with the same purpose,” he said.
