TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Tempe Police Department recently released footage of officers using a grappling device on a Corvette whose owner reportedly recorded himself speeding last month.

The video, which was reportedly taken from a white Corvette C8 on Sept. 9, showed it hitting a top speed of 142 miles per hour on the Mill Avenue bridge over Tempe Town Lake .

Police received multiple reports about a driver, later identified as Mazen Alassmari, recklessly driving and creating an unreasonable amount of noise in Tempe.

The Corvette’s footage depicted an officer on a Tempe Police motorcycle telling Alassmari to stop before he allegedly ran through multiple red lights. He got away that night.
