FARGO — Two quarterbacks who should be serious Walter Payton Award candidates were on display at the Fargodome on Saturday, which had to have an old signal-caller like Nick Hill salivating.

“Old” is a relative term here, since the Southern Illinois head coach is 40 years old and looks like he could still suit up for the Salukis, the team he led to glory in his college career.

“You want to root for those guys, right?” Hill said.

He was referring to his QB, the large and talented senior D.J. Williams, and North Dakota State’s top dog, the large and talented senior Cole Payton.
