FARGO — The West Fargo Sheyenne volleyball team will head into the stretch run of the season with momentum on its side.

The Mustangs won three matches on Saturday, downing West Fargo Horace 2-0 in the gold bracket final at Davies High School to claim their second consecutive Metro Volleyball Invitational tournament championship.

Fourth-seeded Sheyenne toppled No. 5 seed Bismarck 2-0 (25-11, 25-20) in the quarterfinals before outlasting No. 1 Davies in three sets (19-25, 26-24, 15-11). The Mustangs proceeded to sweep the Hawks 25-15, 25-23.

Senior rightside/middle hitter Cora Metcalf accumulated a team-high 30 kills over Saturday's three matches, including the one that sealed match point against Horace in the championship.
