MANHATTAN — After what he called one of the team's worst three-and-outs of the season , Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson arrived at a frustrated sideline when the Wildcats couldn't capitalize on an opportunity to extend their seven-point third-quarter lead.

He and offensive coordinator Matt Wells discussed the issues, trying to get the offense back on track.

Then they heard the roar of their sold-out crowd.

"It was the best feeling in the world," Johnson said.

The Kansas State faithful went nuts when linebacker Desmond Purnell followed his sack, the team's first of the game, by stepping in front of TCU quarterback Josh Hoover's throw down the field. He read his eyes, caught the pass, and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.
