LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas Department of Corrections is advancing in the proposed Franklin County prison project, releasing an information sheet on its website addressing issues and outlining key points such as water and infrastructure availability.
Marybeth Hill is an addiction recovery advocate who said the issue with the prison project is where the state’s priorities lie.
“In 2019, I was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison," Hill said. "And I carried my recovery with me inside of prison."
She said real rehabilitation happens through treatment, not incarceration.
“I was given the tools that were necessary to change my life," Hill explained. "Even though I knew I had consequences to my actions."
