It’s not quite the “Maury Povich Show” or “Paternity Court,” but there is quite a bit of DNA testing going on this weekend in Gulf Shores.
Investigators are on the case at the 52nd Annual National Shrimp Festival to ensure that the tasty crustations on plates are exactly as advertised – American produced.
“Over the past two days we have found several apparent violations of mandates that domestic shrimp be served,” said Chandra Wright, the festival’s chief shrimp investigator. “We are now reasonably confident that each of the 18 shrimp vendors are in compliance with our contract.”
While the results are not life-changing or as dramatic as the old daytime reality shows, the tests are designed to ensure honesty during the annual festival.
