HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Police, along with city and county firefighters, hosted a free event at Vernon Dahmer Park Saturday, which focused on keeping families safe.
The third annual Community Outreach Safety Festival had several information vendors, touch-a-truck opportunities and food vendors.
Also, the folks with Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative (SEMRHI) offered free health screenings.
“This is a time where everybody can come out, relax, ask questions, get information to keep themselves and their family safe,” said Sharon Newsom, with community relations at Hattiesburg Police Department.
During the event, Hattiesburg Police also collected laundry supplies to support domestic abuse shelters, as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
