There aren’t many certainties in the unpredictable sport of mixed martial arts, but Charles Oliveira winning when he fights in Brazil seems to be one of them.
The former lightweight champion improved to 7-0 in the UFC and 18-0 overall when competing in his home country after submitting Mateusz Gamrot in the featured bout of a UFC Fight Night event in Rio de Janeiro.
The pair of 155-pounders are two of the most talented grapplers on the UFC roster, with Oliveira holding the UFC record for most submission wins and Gamrot the active lightweight leader in takedowns.
Oliveira is a fan favourite and one of the most beloved Brazilian fighters in MMA history. He last fought in Brazil in March of 2020, but that card didn’t take place in front of any fans since the event didn’t permit spectators
