Camas senior Cohen Butler ran a new fastest time in a cross country season full of them, breaking the meet record at the prestigious Hole in the Wall Invitational on Saturday in Arlington.
Butler won the Men’s Elite race in 14 minutes, 36.9 seconds. That ranks 24th nationally for 5,000 meters this high school season, according to Athletic.net.
Butler’s time broke the meet record of 14:40.0, set last year by Owen Powell of Mercer Island. The annual race at Lakewood High School draws teams from across the Northwest and Alaska.
Saturday’s result comes two weeks after Butler set what was then his personal best of 14:40.8 at the Nike Portland XC’s elite Danner Championships race.
