The day commemorating Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas is coming up. But other cities and states will celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day on the same day.

Columbus Day, which some communities have renamed Indigenous Peoples Day to protest the historical conquest of North America by the Europeans while raising awareness of the losses suffered by Native Americans, will take place on Monday, Oct. 13.
