The Punjab unit of the Congress Sunday announced that it will be holding candle marches demanding the immediate removal and arrest of Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), Shatrujeet Singh, in an alleged suicide case of Dalit Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Chandigarh , former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, and PPCC SC Department chairman Kuldeep Vaid, among others, said that assistant DGP Kumar was the victim of the BJP ’s deliberate policy of targeting the Dalits, the backwards, the farmers and the minorities.
