The second annual Love Doesn’t Hurt run and walk took place this weekend. The Turnaround Foundation hosted this event in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Tamika Rouse started the Love Doesn’t Hurt run and walk in honor of her mother who was murdered by her husband of six years. She was 14-years old when her mother was killed, leaving behind her and her siblings.
She died thirty years ago. She was killed by her husband,” she said.
“We had moved out of the home into a shelter at Cumbee Center in Aiken. Her last final two weeks was amazing. I just got to see my mom come back to herself.’
Her mother, Sebrenia Russaw had escaped abuse but she later was tricked into meeting him to talk with an attorney. That was when the unimaginable happened, and she was killed.
