Just as the Washington Commanders got their quarterback last week and returned to the win column with a beatdown of the Los Angeles Chargers, a new injury is threatening to slow their momentum.

This time, it's wide receiver Deebo Samuel whose status is up in the air with a bruised heel leaving him questionable to play in Monday night's showdown against the Chicago Bears. Head coach Dan Quinn said the team would take it into the day of the game to determine whether Samuel would be available. His injury is especially concerning for Washington with two other receivers -- Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown -- already being ruled out for the game.

If the team has to go without Samuel, Jayden Daniels won't have an easy time finding open targets. Unfortunately for Samuel's fantasy managers, we won't likely get a definitive answer until Monday.

Fantasy wide receivers to target if Deebo Samuel is out

If you're holding out hope for Samuel to play, it's a smart decision given his likely big role in the absence of McLaurin. But your options to pivot in the event he's ruled out will be limited to the other teams playing Monday. Luckily, there's a double-header to give you a few extra options.

Among those teams, Washington might still have the best alternative. Luke McCaffrey will likely be the biggest beneficiary of all the team's injuries, and he's already got two touchdowns on the season -- all in the last three weeks. Chicago's Olamide Zaccheaus is another good option for a solid floor of about five targets and three catches every game.
