A perennial Montgomery restaurant is changing ownership for the first time in a century.
Chris’s Famous Hotdogs, a downtown staple since 1917, is changing hands with Angia Katechis turning over the keys to new owners, the business announced on social media today and confirmed by WSFA 12 in Montgomery.
The transition will occur next Friday.
Angia Katechis, wife of the late owner Theo Katechis, said in a Facebook post today that she “will lovingly pass Chris’ into the hands of wonderful new owners – devoted caretakers who share our deep love for Montgomery and its rich traditions.”
The business was founded by Christopher Anastasios, Greek immigrant. It is the oldest family-owned and operated restaurant in Montgomery.
