KOCHI: A three-year-old girl was mauled by a stray dog in North Paravur, Ernakulam, on Sunday. Nihara, the daughter of Paravur native Mirash, was attacked by a dog. The dog bit and severed the child's ear. The incident took place around 4 pm today. Nihara was playing with other children near the temple near her house. One of the three dogs that came by barked and attacked the child.

The child's ear was severed by an inch in the attack. She was immediately taken to Kalamassery Medical College and later shifted to a speciality hospital in Ernakulam for specialist treatment and vaccination. The child is under observation after suspicion rose over rabies.
