INDIANAPOLIS -- Arizona Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek was taken off the field at Lucas Oil Stadium on a stretcher after suffering a neck injury on a kickoff.

The play did not look remarkable at first glance.

Vokolek was routinely pushed by Colts linebacker Segun Olubi in the normal course of play, but he went down and wasn’t able to get to his feet.

Vokolek, a second-year tight end out of Nebraska, lay on the field motionless after the first Colts kickoff of the day. Doctors examined Vokolek on the field and quickly called for a stretcher, prompting medical personnel to bring out backboards from two separate places.
