FRESNO, Calif. - Local organizations are stepping up to support the California Men's Service Challenge with an additional $300,000 investment in the Central Valley.
This comes after the state announced a $5 million commitment to encourage men to serve as mentors, coaches, and tutors.
California Governor Gavin Newsom's recent executive order aims to address rising suicide rates and declining college attendance among young men. The California Men's Service Challenge is a part of this effort, providing new pathways to purpose, leadership, and belonging.
“California is committed to the long-term success pathways for young boys and men. This local investment combines with our commitment through the state to continue uplifting the next generation of leaders,” said Governor Newsom.
