It’s the end of an era in Happy Valley.
Penn State fired James Franklin in the middle of his 12th year as the head coach and named associate head coach/cornerbacks coach Terry Smith as the interim leader.
The move comes on the heels of a 22-21 loss to Northwestern, the third straight for Penn State after entering the year as the nation’s No. 2 team.
