An intense scene in West Edmonton on Thursday night, a video showing Edmonton police using a taser on a man twice.

Police say at approximately 11 p.m., officers were patrolling in the area of Yellowhead Trail and 215 Street when a Dodge Ram fled from police and quickly lost control and hit the ditch.

When the driver exited the truck, police say he ignored their directions, prompting them to deploy a CEW — commonly referred to as a taser.

A witness recorded the encounter. In the video, officers repeatedly tell the man to put his hands to the sides and roll over onto his face.

You then see police deploy the taser a second time. Many viewers on social media are calling it an unnecessary use of force.
