NFL teams employ large medical staffs for a reason: Football is a violent game, and injuries are inevitable. But the Indianapolis Colts' medical team probably didn't expect to be so busy at work before Sunday's game even kicked off.

But that's exactly what happened before the Colts' Week 6 matchup with the Cardinals.

Despite losing the quarterback competition to Daniel Jones, Anthony Richardson was injured before the game and had to be taken to the hospital following a freak accident. According to Adam Schefter, Richardson suffered a fractured orbital bone when an elastic warmup band snapped and hit him in the face.

And that wasn't even the only injury the Colts dealt with before the game got underway.

Cornerback Charvarius Ward was also a late scratch after suffering a concussion when he collided with tight end Drew Ogletree.

Yikes.

The Colts would still go on to defeat the Cardinals, 31-27.
