Honoring those lost to the war in Gaza, Kites of Hope flew high above the Trager Family JCC Sunday afternoon.
Oct. 7, 2023, was the beginning of the war in Gaza. Two years later the war is ongoing.
To commemorate the attack on Israel, Louisville’s Jewish community honored the lives lost Sunday by flying hundreds of kites at the Jewish Heritage Fund Campus.
Kites of Hope began as a way to honor those killed on Oct. 7 in Kibbutz Kfar Aza. The tradition of flying kites is part of the area’s annual Sukkot kite festival. The event was canceled when the event organizer and his family were killed during the attack.
