In a season of frustration for St. Louis City SC, forward Simon Becher may lead the league.

Becher leads the league in goals minus expected goals, a stat that measures how a player does relative to the scoring chances he has. No player in Major League Soccer has missed more scoring opportunities than Becher this season. Per Opta stats, Becher’s expected goals total, the statistical projection of how many goals he should have scored considering where he was shooting from, is a very respectable 8.5 this season.
