Ian Watkins' Lostprophets bandmate has spoken out after the convicted paedophile was killed in a reported prison attack. Guitarist Lee Gaze took to X after news broke that the sex offender had been fatally slashed in the neck by a fellow inmate at HMP Wakefield. Gaze posted simply, "Thanks for the kind words," in response to a fan wishing them well late last night. He added the comment to a thread started in July, when he shared, "It's been 13 years since my band ended in the most unimaginable circumstances and it's still painful to think about. "Things could've been so different." Gaze, a co-founder of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, is currently lead guitarist with the Welsh/American alternative rock band No Devotion. His comment came after two men, aged 25 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of murder. A prison van was seen leaving the category A facility in West Yorkshire on Saturday night. Watkins - who was serving 35 years for a string of child sex offences - is the most high-profile inmate to be killed in a UK jail in living memory. His attacker, who justice sources said had been identified, is understood to have slashed his jugular, causing Watkins to die from blood loss. The notorious prison where Watkins was stabbed to death is known as one of the most dangerous in Britain.
