EVA Air is one of Taiwan’s three major carriers, alongside China Airlines and Starlux Airlines. The privately owned airline has grown steadily since operating its first flight on July 1, 1991, and today serves more than 60 destinations across four continents (except Africa) with a fleet of around 88 aircraft. Over the years, it has continued to expand both its network and fleet, and has maintained a strong focus on long-haul connectivity.

Specifically, the airline’s presence in North America has been central to that growth. EVA entered the US market in December 1992 with a nonstop service between Taipei and Los Angeles, operated by its newly delivered Boeing 747-400.
