SANDWICH, N.H. —

It was one of New Hampshire's biggest weekends of the year, despite a questionable forecast.

The Sandwich Fair drew large crowds over the first half of the holiday weekend, with visitors arriving early to enjoy the festivities.

"Washing cows at 6:30 this morning, it was literally, like, just cars pouring in after car, after car," said Brianna Hawes of Elm Terrace Farm.

Bryan Peaslee, president of the fair, said he was thrilled the weekend wasn't a washout.

"We start watching it as soon as you can see how far enough and it's ebbed and flowed, and we've been nervous, and then we've been excited. And to get two out of the three days, as beautiful as they are, we can't ask for a whole lot more," Peaslee said.
