AUSTIN, Texas — Maria Delgado is demanding answers from police, after videos surfaced of her son - 19-year-old Johnny Acuña-Jacobo - on the ground on Austin's 6th Street appearing to be continuously punched by an Austin police officer.
"My son is outgoing, but he respects the law," Delgado said. "And he would not do this to an officer without any cause. He must have thought that his life was either in danger or something."
The Austin Police Department says one of its officers struck someone while responding to a crowd control incident on Friday night. The incident led to an officer involved being removed from patrol and placed on restricted duty pending an investigation. The name of the officer has not been revealed.
