KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Jared Goff was dealing to open the first half against the Kansas City Chiefs. And the Detroit Lions were using long-winding drives to do right by their banged-up defense.

Goff started by hitting his first seven passes for 85 yards and one touchdown. But the offense stalled and failed to take advantage of a big fourth-down stop by the defense in the second quarter. That missed chance gave the ball right back to the Chiefs after their own fourth-down failure.
