If we follow nature as our teacher, we see that nature recycles everything. A forest soil is rich in organic matter and full of life: microbes, bacteria, fungi, worms, decaying plants. Where does a lot of that organic matter come from? Leaves.
A forest feeds itself every year, and in doing so, builds healthy soil. Healthy soil grows healthy plants. Nature does not waste or discard anything, it recycles everything and turns it into something usable. It regenerates. As caretakers of our lawns, we should be doing the same thing.
